Paul’s POV ultimately found the HIDIZS MK10 highly enjoyable, with an engaging presentation that made a strong emotional impression during his listening. He particularly appreciated its tight and satisfying bass, detailed highs, clean imaging and the meaningful sound changes offered by its three tuning nozzles.
A Premium Package With Small Frustrations
Paul considers the included silver-plated OFC cable premium and appreciates that it does not transmit noticeable noise when rubbing against clothing. His version uses a 3.5mm termination, with a 4.4mm balanced option also available.
The metal shells receive a more mixed response. He likes the faceplate design but dislikes the highly reflective finish because it quickly collects fingerprints and grease marks. He also found the rubber ring around the black nozzle somewhat loose on his unit.
Fit depends heavily on the cable’s ear loops. Paul found the MK10 comfortable when properly adjusted, but the loops sometimes slipped off his ears, leaving the shell weight supported by his concha and ear canal. He estimates the pair at roughly 30g and believes tighter loops would improve longer sessions.
Black Nozzle Becomes His Reference
Three nozzles provide clearly noticeable tuning changes in Paul’s experience. He conducted most of his listening with the black nozzle because he found its timbre more natural and its imaging especially convincing.
The white nozzle pushes treble further and sounds too bright for his preference, particularly around the sibilant region. The red nozzle is warmer and musical, but Paul feels it sacrifices too much detail and creates a veiled presentation.
Engaging Sound With Some Sharpness
Using the black nozzle, Paul hears detailed highs with strong sparkle and clearly placed nuances. However, the tuning crosses slightly into sibilance for him, so treble-sensitive listeners may find it uncomfortable without adjustment.
The mids are recessed relative to the highs and lows, yet vocals remain physically close in the stage. Paul found this intimacy excessive with some jazz and blues vocals, although both male and female voices retain body.
Bass is one of his stronger positives. He describes it as tight, structured and enjoyable rather than bloated, with satisfying heft, kick and extension. His listening was performed using a powerful portable DAC/amp, which he explicitly notes when discussing the low-frequency performance.
Imaging is clean and easy to follow, while the stage extends more noticeably vertically than horizontally in his experience.
Overall Assessment
Despite his criticisms, Paul’s POV considers the MK10 a terrific IEM and says most of his complaints are relatively minor. More importantly, its sound created an emotional response for him during music he had not previously felt strongly connected to.
The MK10 best suits listeners who enjoy engaging bass, detailed highs, intimate vocals and meaningful tuning choices. Treble-sensitive users, people who dislike fingerprint-prone finishes, or listeners whose ears do not work well with the loose cable loops should consider those limitations. Paul ultimately prefers the black nozzle and considers the overall tuning very well balanced.
